Where it started

Sam's shop.
For thirty years.

Sam has had Southern Fried Chicken on Brand Street for thirty years. Along the way he brought in his partner, Khan, and the two of them still run the shop today. It's family owned, not a chain, so the people behind the counter are the people who make the decisions.

Over three decades the shop has become a bit of a hub in Hitchin. People come in for the chicken and stay for a chat. Plenty of our customers have been coming for years, and we know a lot of them by name.

Sam has had the shop on Brand Street for thirty years. If you've been coming a while, you already know him.

Partner

Sam brought Khan in as his partner in the business. Another familiar face behind the counter, and part of the family feel of the shop.

Fresh, every time

Fresh ingredients, prepared in our kitchen every day. Chicken is marinated in buttermilk, breaded by hand and fried when you order. Our chilli sauce, garlic mayo, gravy and houseslaw are made here too.

Every piece of chicken and every kebab we serve is halal. It's been that way from day one, so everyone in town can eat with us.

Service that knows you

Our customers are the reason we're still here. We like a chat, we remember your usual, and if you've got a question about allergens or an order, you'll talk to the family, not a call centre.
